Software Tester (m/w/d)

The heidelpay engineering organisation is growing rapidly and is looking for a full-time cloud infrastructure architect who is interested in helping us to realise and build on the next stage in our product and technology journey. You will need to have a strong understanding of cloud technologies, public cloud infrastructure providers and know how large-scale cloud infrastructures are operated. You will have the ability to architect and confidently articulate cloud-infrastructure solutions, to guide development teams in the practical use of cloud architecture patterns and have the hands-on skills to implement and deploy exciting new cloud infrastructure solutions that will help enable Heidelpay’s unique product innovation roadmap and its hyperscale growth plans.

What you will do

  • Test our new and existing software products as part of the QA Competency area (chapter) working within our squad-based delivery model
  • Review and provide feedback on agile requirements documentation, release and sprint plans, functional designs, prototypes and technical designs
  • Define effective test plans and test cases                
  • Test human (UI) and computer (API) interfaces of new and current products to pinpoint deficiencies and suggest solutions
  • Implement test execution for speed, efficiency and accuracy
  • Create test automation scripts to enable you to focus on deeper and broader tests as a means to product quality goals
  • Track and report on progress based on test metrics that align with product quality goals
  • Use test environments that closely mirror the end user’s experience
  • Create and use test data to aid realistic test scenarios and to enable scalable testing
  • Develop product acceptance test suites covering non-functional requirements relating to product stability, scalability, security, supportability, etc.
  • Create business acceptance tests for customer solutions
  • Nurture close working relationships with teams and individuals across engineering and product organisations
  • The tools you will work with include JIRA, Confluence, Subversion, Git, Gradle, Maven, Bamboo, Jenkins, browserstack, Postman, TestRail, ZAProxy, Selenium, Protractor, Jasmine, JMeter, Ready APi, SoapUI, TestLink, HipTest
  • You will contribute to the identification, understanding, evaluation and selection of new and emerging testing tools, practices and techniques that are aligned to heidelpay’s technology and IT application selection principles

Your profile

You should have
  • Good and practical understanding of testing principles, concepts, methods and strategies
  • Strong knowledge of testing processes
  • Hands-on experience with variety of testing techniques such as UI testing, API testing, automated testing, performance testing and test-driven development (TDD)
  • Experience in test automation processes
  • Experience with several test frameworks
  • Good understanding of technically complex systems, designs, process flows through and across these systems and tech stacks
  • Familiar with a range of testing, test management, test automation, test documentation and logging tools e.g. Junit, browserstack, Postman, TestRail, ZAProxy, Selenium, Protractor, Jasmine, JMeter, Ready API, SoapUI, TestLink, HipTest/CucumberStudio, TestCraft
  • Obsessive passion for finding functional and performance deficiencies and product defects
  • Intense focus on testing the end-to-end user experience
  • Passion for structured working, attention to detail and documenting things well
  • Thirst for staying up to date on the latest and emerging testing tools, products, methodologies, practices and techniques
  • Good collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced delivery focused environment
  • Experience in agile working environments and scrum/lean work practices
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)

Great if you have

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or other relevant discipline
  • ISTQB certification is an advantage
  • Experience in security testing processes, techniques and tools
  • Experience in testing in fintech, payments industry or an analogous regulated industry
  • Experience in identifying test process bottlenecks and recommending improvements
  • Programming skills in Java, Python or Bash is an advantage
  • Experience in providing feedback on the capabilities and user friendliness of existing products
  • Experience working in scaled agile environments using a squad delivery model and horizontal chapter/competency structure
